View - Preview Tab
The Preview tab displays the current view, using the current configuration settings and querying against the target data source. This allows the administrator to see how the information will be displayed to remote users. Also, the administrator can use the current display of data to set default column width values.
Setting Default Column Widths
To set the default width for a particular column, perform the following steps:
- Using the mouse, click and hold on the right edge of the target column.
- Drag the edge of the column to the right until the desired column width is achieved.
- Release the mouse button.
- Click on the Update button
in the toolbar. This will update the view's field properties to reflect the column width change. After the view has been updated, remote users will see the new column width the next time they connect up to the DataSplice Server.
Editing Data in the Preview Tab
The Preview tab allows updates and inserts to be made to the data in the grid if updates and/or inserts are allowed by the default permissions of the view (defined in the Connection tab). Any changes made in the Preview tab, if successful, will be reflected in the database. Administrators can use this feature to test field properties, dropdown value lists, and event action processing.
