Pocket PC Frequently Asked Questions
Pocket Internet Explorer
- How do I enter an Internet address into Internet Explorer on my Pocket PC?
- The address bar may be hidden from view. To make it visible, click View > Address Bar from the menu to display the address bar at the top of the screen.
The address bar should now be displayed. Type in the desired URL into the address bar and click the green arrow button
to navigate to that site.
Network Connectivity
- I get an error message saying Trouble Connecting when I try to view a web page. What should I do to fix this?
- This error means that Internet Explorer cannot connect to the Internet with the current network settings. There are a number of reasons why this may be happening. The following suggestions can be used as a guideline, but the best course of action is to contact your network administrator directly for assistance.
Click Start > Settings > System tab. Select Wireless Network
.In the Profile Wizard screen, click the Add button. Then enter the SSID of your wireless network and click Done. Again, if you do not know the SSID of your network, contact your network administrator for assistance.
Edit any security and other settings that your network has in place. When you are finished, click OK.
Click Start > Settings > Connection tab. Select Connections
.The settings need to be changed so the device will use the available network connection for the Internet. Look at the value for My network card connects to: (this is probably set to Work). Change the value for the other two dropdowns to match that setting (i.e. Work Settings). Click OK in the upper right hand corner to finish.
Note: It is important to note that network configurations and setups can vary dramatically. Thus, if you are still having difficulties establishing a proper network connection, please contact your network administrator for assistance.
