Using Windmill to Install Other Software Packages
Once the Windmill Client is successfully installed on your handheld device, you can run Windmill to install and/or update DataSplice and other software packages onto the handheld.
You will be prompted to enter your Server Address, Windmill Group, and Password. The Server Address should automatically be filled in. You will need to enter your appropriate Windmill Group and Password information. If you do not know this information, please contact us at datasplice@datasplice.com. Windmill uses this authentication information to provide you with access to the specific software packages that you need.
Available Packages
After successful login, you will see a list of software packages that are available for download. Place a check by the package(s) you wish to download and install. By default, all of the packages listed should already have a check next to them for download. Click the OK button to continue with the download and installation of the selected packages.
Package Installation in Progress
As the selected packages are being downloaded and installed, you will see a progress bar and some textual information regarding the components being installed.
Package Installation Complete
You will be notified when the selected packages have finished being downloaded and installed. Click Close to exit the screen.
Installed Packages
The selected software packages should now be installed on the device. You should now see a screen showing you a list of these packages. To exit Windmill, click File > Exit from the menu at the bottom of the screen.
You can run Windmill at any time to check for further updates, download new packages, or repair existing ones. If an update to Windmill itself is available, it will appear in the update list and can be installed in the same way as any other package.
To run Windmill at a later time, click Start > Programs, then select the Windmill Client icon
. You will be taken to the screen above, showing the current packages and any newly available ones. To repair an existing package, select it from the list, then click File > Install Package from the menu at the bottom. This will reinstall the package in the same process as discussed previously.
