If you knew Sushi, like I know...
It's not often that a love affair lasts for over 25 years, but alas, my joy of sushi has been a passion since Van Halen released their album 1984.
My first venture, in Mexico of all places, was actually cooked, though in my tequilla induced state I didn't know that at the time. When I tasted that first piece of Mexican octopus (ironically called tako in Japanese) I couldn't get enough.
I traveled quite a bit back then so my hotel choices were dictated by the proximity of a sushi bar. When home, I'd drive for hours. Living in Rural Nebraska has the distinct disadvantage of being quite landlocked, and at least then, the Piggly Wiggly didn't carry it in the deli case.
So, Here it is, my ode to sushi:
Nigiri sculpture
Art wrapped up in a green belt
A wonder to taste
OK, so I'm no Haiku master, but what the heck!
