Connecting to the DataSplice Server

Before you can access all of the configuration features of the Administration Client, you must first log in and connect to the DataSplice Server. Once you are successfully authenticated with administrator privileges, you can begin to configure the DataSplice Server through the Administration Client interface.

To log in to the DataSplice Administration Client and connect to the DataSplice Server, refer to the following steps:

  1. Ensure that the DataSplice Server is running, either as an application or as a service.
  2. Open the Administration Client by clicking Start > Programs > DataSplice > Administration Client.
  3. When the Administration Client opens, a dialog box will open that allows you to enter your appropriate login information:

    Field Name Description
    User Name The administrator login account. By default, there is a built-in admin account within the DataSplice domain.
    Password The password corresponding to the administrator account being used. If this is the initial time logging in, the default password is changethis. Upon initial login, you will be prompted to change your password.
    Domain The domain containing this administrator account. The built-in admin account belongs to the DataSplice domain.
    Server Address The location of the computer where the DataSplice Server is running. This can be either an IP address or a computer name. If the Administration Client is being run on the same machine as the DataSplice Server, this field can be either 127.0.0.1 or localhost.

  4. Enter the appropriate login information and server address information.
  5. Click the Connect button.

Upon successful login, the Server Settings and Configuration screen will be displayed. For more information regarding this screen, please see the following section.
