View Preview
During the course of configuration in the Administration Client, it may be beneficial to periodically preview some of the view data. This is accomplished by selecting the View Preview item from the Configuration Section drop-down on the View Configuration screen.
Preview Modes
Displaying Data in Default Preview Mode
The default method of displaying view data shows it in the space allotted by the Administration Client. Ensure that Default is selected in the Preview Mode drop-down. If the view is currently displaying the filter, click the arrow to display the navigation section and select an entry to display a particular action, such as Display Single Record.
Displaying Data in Pocket PC Preview Mode
Another available preview option is to mimic a Pocket PC environment. This form factor is extremely useful when trying to visualize the appearance of views as seen on a Pocket PC (also known as Windows Mobile) device environment.
In this preview mode, the screen size is valid for the Pocket PC environment. Notice that the toolbar is also moved below the data screen, as is the case on Pocket PC devices.
User Masquerade
A useful feature of the view preview area is known as user masquerade. This allows for views to be interacted with from within the Administration Client exactly as if the specified user was logged in to the Remote Client and interacting with those views. This is of particular importance with respect to different users having different permissions. When the user masquerade feature is in use, all of the actions taken in the view preview area are accomplished using the permissions of the specified user. For example, when attempting to perform an issue of material when configured with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), only certain users may have access to perform this task in the system. If the issue is attempted without masquerading as a user, an appropriate error will be produced. While masquerading as the user, the issue of material will be successful because that user has the necessary credentials to perform the issue in the CMMS system.
