View Preview
During the configuration process within the Administration Client, it is often beneficial to periodically preview some of the view data.
DataSplice 2.3.x
Previewing view information in the DataSplice 2.3.x Administration Client provided basic functionality and general information. Many tasks could not be completed, such as inserts and updates, because the credentials to commit these changes to the back-end system did not readily exist for the current admin user.
DataSplice 3.0.x
The view preview area in DataSplice 3.0.x has been expanded to be more comprehensive.
User Masquerade
One of the powerful new features of DataSplice 3.0.x is the ability to preview views as a specific user. This process, known as user masquerade, lets the administrator interact with views in the preview area exactly as if he were logged into the Remote Client as the user in question. This is especially important because different users have different levels of access and different attribute associations. Masquerading as a user in the view preview area provides accurate permissions for the user in question from within the Administration Client environment.
Pocket PC Preview Mode
Also new to 3.0.x is a Pocket PC preview mode. This specialized design emulates the environment of a Pocket PC mobile device, including the accurately-sized screen real estate and toolbar location.
