Running the DataSplice Setup Wizard

The DataSplice setup wizard steps through the installation of each component of the DataSplice Mobile Integration Suite. Before commencing with the installation process, close any open programs and ensure that any anti-virus software is disabled. Locate and run the DataSplice-3.0.0.msi installation file. In most cases, this file is obtained from the downloads page of the specific customer when logged in on http://www.datasplice.com.

Note: The installation setup wizard can be run on top of an existing DataSplice installation. If an existing installation exists, it will simply update the existing file components with the most recent versions.

After running the DataSplice-3.0.0.msi file, the setup wizard will open and the Welcome screen will be displayed. At the Welcome screen, click the Next button to begin the installation process. At any time during this process, click the Cancel button to abort the installation.

Selecting the Components to Install

The next screen in the setup wizard provides the ability to select which components to install. The following components are available:

  • Administration Client - Provides the interface for administrators to connect to the DataSplice Server.
  • Remote Client - Allows for valid users to log in and connect to the DataSplice Server instance.
  • DataSplice Server - Installs the main server component for DataSplice.
  • Windows CE Clients - Enables the files required for mobile device installation. This is required if the Remote Client will be manually installed onto mobile devices.

Select Components

By default, all of the components are selected for installation. In most cases, it is recommended to install all available components. After selecting the desired components, click the Next button at the bottom of the window to continue.

Choosing the Destination Directory

The next screen allows for the destination directory for the installation to be selected.

Choose Destination Directory

The default destination folder is C:\Program Files\DataSplice3\. You may accept this as the installation directory or choose a different location by either typing it directly into the text field or by clicking the Browse button. Selecting either Everyone or Just me determines whether the installation files are made available to all users who log in to this computer, or just the currently logged-in user. Clicking the Disk Cost button displayed a dialog box showing the amount of storage space available and required for the installation.
