 • Hard Kill a session on server

Posted by aarogerm at 2006-03-01 05:37 PM

I have three sessions running on the administration - connected clients. They are all stuck in the status of Updating record, however these sessions are not connected. Usng the right click disconnect client does not work. How can I get rid of these?

The only way a session can get stuck like this is if some database action is either taking a very long time to complete or is hung/deadlocked.

You might take a look at your database server and see if you can figure out which connection is associated and attempt to terminate the command there.

Unfortunately ODBC is synchronous (which means database calls block until they return) and does not provide any safe way to back out of these calls. If you cannot stop the database processes, which would then terminate the original database call, your only choice will be to restart the DataSplice server.
