 • Loss of Offline Value list filter/default

Posted by jgibson at 2005-03-24 10:12 AM

Jim Zampieri of Pinellas County has three users that are experiencing the same problem.
When the users close DataSplice, or turn off their device, during an offline session, then relaunch DS their value list for LABORCODES is no longer filtered correctly and their default LABORCODE is no longer auto-populated in the labor records. It appears that the query based attribute for their default LABORCODE and the LABORCODES list filter is losing it's association after DS is closed or the unit is turned off. Jim has been able to replicate the error.

Can somebody attach some views so we can attempt to recreate it here?

When he says there are three users experiencing this problem, does that mean that some of them are not? I would take a look at the Laborcodes view after restarting the client and verify that it contains the records it should.

Laborcodes is a hidden view, so he can't verify the data unless he changes the attribute. I did verify that the Laborcodes view was in the Client Data folder after the shutdown.
I'll have Jim email the views.

It looks like this is caused by a bug where the DS_USER default attribute is not initialized until the client connects to the server. This means that the attribute has no value and the query attribute in your reporting view will just return the first laborcode in the list.

Until we get this fixed a workaround is to manually define the DS_USER attribute for each user that is having this problem. For instance for the user WINSTON you would edit the user's attributes and set 'DS_USER' to 'WINSTON'.

I'll make sure this gets fixed for the next release, which should be fairly soon.
