 • Other employees' work orders displayed

Posted by kbrown at 2006-02-23 06:17 PM

We’re using this antique version of DataSplice:

0) OriginalFilename: TM_DSplice.EXE
1) FileVersion: 1.0.12
2) FileDescription: DataSplice Toyota Workorder Client
3) Comments:
4) LegalCopyright: Copyright (C) 2001
5) CompanyName: DataSplice
6) LegalTrademarks: DataSplice
7) ProductName: DataSplice Toyota Application
8) ProductVersion: 1.0.12
9) InternalName: TM_DSplice
10) SpecialBuild:
11) PrivateBuild:

The Work Orders view is supposed to display work orders for only the EMP# logged in. But if the user toggles the connection off and on again, the Next Page and Previous Page buttons will display ALL work orders. The workaround is to click the Go button, but users aren’t always aware of the problem and sometimes edit another user’s work orders. Is there a way to fix this?

Wow, that's an unexpected visit from the way back machine for this morning...

I'm pretty sure I still have a virtual machine that runs that version somewhere. I'll try to start it up and see if I can reproduce the problem and hopefully come up with some way to fix it.

Ok, I got that version loaded up, but was unable to reproduce your problem. After I disconnect and reconnect the page up/down buttons display nothing and I have to hit 'Go' to see work orders again.

I'm not sure there's going to be much of a fix for the problem regardless - that particular application hasn't been developed in quite a long time.

One idea that I had that might make this less of a problem would be to move the 'EMP#' field next to 'WO Num'. This way the users would see who the work order is assigned to without needing to scroll horizontally, which would hopefully keep them from editing the wrong records.

I was able to make it work like yours by adding a filter (EMP# = ${Login ID}) to the WORK ORDERS views. Don't know why it wasn't there before. I guess the original login somehow filters the work orders but the toggle connect doesn't.
