For use with Android:


Manual Method: (KDC 200 and 300 series only)

  • Press Top & Bottom buttons simultaneously to enter menu
  • Top > System Config > Mfi Mode > Disable > Save & Exit
  • Top > BT Config > Connect Device > SPP > Save & Exit
  • Top > BT Config > Autoconnect > On > Save & Exit
  • Top > BT Service > Pairing
  • On tablet/phone > Pair via Bluetooth to to the unit while Koamtac is Pairing
  • In DataSplice, Select Settings > Hardware > Barcode Scanner/Select Active Device > Koamtac
Barcode Method:
  • Scan the SPP and Pairing barcode for the appropriate device (top portion of the above image for 1D scanners, bottom portion for 2D)
  • On tablet/phone > Pair via Bluetooth to to the unit while Koamtac is Pairing
  • In DataSplice, Select Settings > Hardware > Barcode Scanner/Select Active Device > Koamtac
Note 1:  For the 400 series scanners, if you wish to power off the scanner between users, you must restart the DataSplice app for the Koamtac to be recognized by the app after the scanner is powered back on!

Note 2: While it is possible to change the Bluetooth pairing name of the KDC devices through advanced settings, note that the set name of the device must still begin with 'KDC' in order for the DataSplice app to recognize the scanner.



For use with iOS:


Manual Method: (KDC 200 and 300 series only)

  • Press Top & Bottom buttons simultaneously to enter menu
  • Top > BT Config > Connect Device > iPhone > Save & Exit
  • Top > System Config > Mfi Mode > Enable > Save & Exit
  • Top > BT Service > Pairing
  • On tablet/phone > Pair via Bluetooth to the unit while Koamtac is in pairing mode (Note: If the last pair was unsuccessful, you will need to find the Koamtac within the Bluetooth settings and select "forget this device" before attempting the pair operation again.)
  • In DataSplice, Select Settings > Hardware > Driver Name > Koamtac
Barcode Method:
  • Scan the MFi and Pairing barcode for the appropriate device (top portion of the above image for 1D scanners, bottom portion for 2D)
  • On tablet/phone > Pair via Bluetooth to the unit while Koamtac is in pairing mode (Note: If the last pair was unsuccessful, you will need to find the Koamtac within the Bluetooth settings and select "forget this device" before attempting the pair operation again.)
  • In DataSplice, Select Settings > Hardware > Driver Name > Koamtac

For use with Windows Standalone (Uniwedge required):


1. Pair the scanner and computer via Bluetooth 

  • On computer, in the Bluetooth settings, select Add a Bluetooth device
  • Select the appropriate device
  • The Koamtac should appear on the list as: 'KDC[serial#]'


2. On the Koamtac scanner, enter the settings menu by pressing both the up and down buttons on the side simultaneously.  Make sure the following settings match.

 

  • KDC Mode > Normal
  • System Config > MFi Mode> Disabled
  • BTConfig > ConnectDevice > SPP


3. On the Koamtac, select BT Service > Pairing and then open DataSplice on your Windows device.  


4. Select the proper driver in the DataSplice client

  • In DataSplice 5.0, select the DatasSplice icon in the top left corner of the screen, then select the gear icon to the far right, and select the Hardware tab.  Under Barcode Scanner, select HID/USB Scanner from the Active Device dropdown
  • In DataSplice 5.1, select the DatasSplice icon in the top left corner of the screen, then select the gear icon at the bottom of the dropdown. Select the hardware tab, and then select Uniwedge from the Driver Name dropdown.





Note: The scanner will stop trying to pair after a while.  If Step 4 takes too long, repeat step 3 and toggle the BarcodeScannerPlugin off and then back on.
