The Windmill Client application can be downloaded over the Internet from the Windmill Server. To begin the download, launch Internet Explorer on the mobile device by tapping Start > Internet Explorer. If the address bar is not visible or you have trouble connecting to web sites, please view our Pocket PC troubleshooting page for more information about how to resolve these issues.

In the address bar, type http://windmill.datasplice.com/Windmill and tap the green arrow Go button to load the web page.

The Windmill homepage will now be displayed. This page contains general information about Windmill. To continue with the installation process, click the here link.

After clicking the here link, an Internet Explorer dialog box will now be displayed. This dialog allows for the selection of desired behavior for the Windmill installation file. Depending on the device being used, the ideal selection may vary. In general, however, selecting Open file after download with the default download location is satisfactory. To change the download destination path, click Change. To interrupt the installation process, click Cancel. To continue with the installation process, click Yes.

The Windmill Client application will begin to download to the mobile device, during which time a progress bar will be displayed.

If the Open file after download option was selected in the download dialog box, the next installation screen should automatically appear. If it does not, it may be necessary to browse to the directory where the installation file was downloaded and manually launch the file from that location. Typically, the default download location is My Documents or a similar path. The installation file is titled WindmillClient-<device>.exe where <device> refers to the device type and platform such as ARM_PPC for an ARM processor device running Pocket PC. Once the installation file has been executed, the installation screen should appear. For more information about the installation screen, please see the next section of this manual.
